Utility is United Way of Southern Nevada’s largest employee and corporate supporter
Jan. 21, 2010 – Through its corporate sponsorship and employee donations, NV Energy has taken its giving to United Way of Southern Nevada to a new level – topping $1 million this year. Participation in NV Energy’s Southern Nevada employee giving program increased more than 14 percent from last year, which translated into nearly $80,000 more in individual employee donations, for a total of $537,965. The utility donated an additional $500,000 to Project REACH, which is NV Energy’s utility bill assistance program, bringing the company’s total contributions to $1,037,965. NV Energy’s contribution to United Way organizations statewide totaled $1.3 million.
“Our partnership with NV Energy and I.B.E.W. Local Union 396 is invaluable and we applaud their employees for stepping up during tough times and increasing their gifts to United Way,” stated Dan Goulet, President and CEO of United Way of Southern Nevada. “They are our largest employee and corporate supporter and the programs we fund as a result of their efforts are focused on influencing lasting change in our community.”
The dollars raised during this campaign season will help to fund the organization’s community-based agenda, which finds lasting solutions to social problems in the areas of early education, financial stability and access to healthcare and support for today’s safety net funding of immediate needs.
“I am proud of our employees’ continued commitment to making a difference through United Way,” said Michael Yackira, President and CEO of NV Energy. “It is an honor to be part of an organization that sincerely embraces the importance of community.”
