2018 Day of Caring FAQ

Where is the Day of Caring kickoff celebration?

The Day of Caring kickoff celebration will take place at “The Green” Town Square Las Vegas from 8:30am-9:30am. 6605 S. Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89119.

How do I register for a Day of Caring project(s)?

Visit uwsn.org/caring.

Can I register for more than one project?

Yes. There are both half day and full day projects available. Project details are available in each site profile.

Can I register a team?

Yes. Projects range in size from five to 60 volunteers max. As the team lead you can reserve spots for your team for up to 10 days. Spots will then be released and become available to the public. Projects are first come, first serve. Once a project is filled, it will close. Each project will show the amount of volunteer spots open. Leads will need to have the following information available to complete their registration first name, last name, email address and t-shirt size. Please note t-shirt requests will remain open until Monday, September 3rd 2018. It is encouraged to recruit family, friends and co-workers.

I've Registered My Team... what's next?

After you have registered your team, you will receive a confirmation email that will recap your submission including full details of your project. We strongly recommend that you keep a copy of this confirmation email for your records.

How long are projects?

All projects begin at 10am. Half day projects are scheduled from 10am-1pm and full day projects 10am-3pm.

Am I Responsible for My Own Transportation?

Yes. All volunteers must provide their own transportation or make arrangements to carpool to the project location.

What Types of Projects Are Available?

There are a variety of projects to include mural painting, reading to students, kit assembly, food pantry organization, building buddy benches, landscaping, gardening, animal habitats builds and book repair. Both indoor and outdoor projects are available and handicap accessible.

How Do I Order T-Shirts for Day of Caring?

T-shirt sizes will be collected at the time of registration. Volunteers can pick up their t-shirt October 1st – 4th at United Way of Southern Nevad located at 5830 W Flamingo Road Las Vegas, NV 89103. Office hours are 8:30am-5pm.

My Team Has Cancelled - What Do I Do?

We understand. If you have registered a team and they are now unable to participate login to your volunteer profile and unregister from the project. Volunteer spots will then become available to the public.

Our company can't volunteer on Friday, October 5th. Is there any other way we can get involved?

Yes. Supplies are always needed. If you would like to run a supply drive at your location for a particular agency or school, please contact us and we will arrange to pickup and drop-off the items. If your company is interested in hosting a supply drive, contact Jackie Martinez at 702-892-2333 or jackiem@uwsn.org.

When will we know where our project is?

When you sign up, there will be a map with the address of the location.

What do we get for volunteering?

All volunteers will receive a Day of Caring t-shirt. Volunteers committing to a half day project will be provided snacks and drinks. Volunteers committing to a full day project will be provided lunch and drinks.

Can we bring our family?

Each project has a minimum age requirement, so you’ll need to choose a family friendly project.

What do I wear?

It is highly recommended to dress “project appropriate”. Day of Caring t-shirt, jeans, shorts and closed toed comfortable shoes.

Can I provide additional supplies for the project I’ve signed up for?

Yes. Please contact the site lead for additional information.
