5.31.17 Homebuyer Education (English)

Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada’s (NHSSN) 8-hour HUD approved pre-purchase homebuyer education class, offered in English and Spanish, covers the basics of how to purchase a home, the players involved, pitfalls, inspections, insurance, etc. After the class, each attendee receives a Completion Certificate that is valid for one year and is a requirement for those individuals wishing to apply for and receive Down Payment Assistance (in any form) or other city / government programs. The class fee is $30 per person or $50 per couple. You must call (702) 649-0998 to reserve your spot. 

5.31.17 East Valley Family Services Farmers Market

East Valley Family Services has a farmers market. Beginning April 5th, East Valley will have a farmer with fresh fruits and vegetables for sale. Hours are 8 am to noon on the following Wednesdays: April 19th and 26th, May 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st, and June 7th. Come one, come all to add freshly grown fruits and vegetables to your table at 1830 E. Sahara Ave., #101, Las Vegas, NV 89104. 6.2.17 RMHC Rock the Socks Golf Classic

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Greater Las Vegas will host its second annual Rock the Socks Golf Classic on June 2, 2017. With the support of community members and sponsors, golfers throughout Las Vegas participate in this golf tournament, featuring a competitive game of golf, including on-course activities and games, a light breakfast, hosted beverage cart, giveaways and raffles, and an awards luncheon. 6.10.17 Daniel Tiger Be My Neighbor Day

Join Vegas PBS, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, and the United Way of Southern Nevada for a special day in which families with young children will participate in community-focused acts of kindness. In addition to learning how to be a caring neighbor, children will also have the opportunity to meet Daniel Tiger. The event will also feature a DJ, face painting, PBS KIDS mobile app station, and the opportunity to meet a police officer, firefighters, and tour a police car and fire truck. 6.10.17 Help Build a School Garden

Young Nonprofit Professionals Network & Vegas Young Professionals are joining forces to build a school garden with Green Our Planet on June 10th from 9 am - 12 pm at Valley High School. We are looking for volunteers who want to get dirty and have fun while working hard for the students at Valley High School. The Public Education Foundation’s 21st Annual Education Hero Award Gala is an event honoring individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to children and education. All proceeds from the event support the Foundation’s initiatives and programs designed to improve public education in Southern Nevada’s public schools. 9.25.17 10th Annual Step Up for Kids Event

Come to the Springs Preserve for the 10th Annual Step Up for Kids Event, Celebrating Children’s Day in Nevada on Monday, September 25th from 3 to 7pm. There will be free food, live entertainment, ice cream, animals, games, face painting, raffle prizes, a resource fair, and much more. The first 100 people will receive a FREE T-shirt and Passes to Springs Preserve Museums.  This event is free and open to the public. So this Children’s Day, celebrate your family with us at the Step Up for Kids Event and help give Nevada’s Children a Strong Start.

9.29.17 Day of Caring

Day of Caring is our largest, one-day community-wide volunteer event promoting and celebrating the spirit and value of volunteering, increasing awareness of our local community needs and collaborating efforts of impact through corporate groups and individuals. Last year, over 1,000 volunteers came together at 23 nonprofit agencies and 16 Clark County schools to complete 93 volunteer projects and make an impact across Southern Nevada. We invite you to join us again for our second year to make an even bigger difference!
