7.21.17 Homebuyer Education (English)

Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada’s (NHSSN) 8-hour HUD approved pre-purchase homebuyer education class, offered in English and Spanish, covers the basics of how to purchase a home, the players involved, pitfalls, inspections, insurance, etc. After the class, each attendee receives a Completion Certificate that is valid for one year and is a requirement for those individuals wishing to apply for and receive Down Payment Assistance (in any form) or other city / government programs. The class fee is $30 per person or $50 per couple. You must call (702) 649-0998 to reserve your spot. 

7.22-23.17 Christmas in July Crafts Fair

The Women of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church will host the Christmas in July crafts fair from 2 to 6 pm July 22 and  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 23rd. There will be afghans, baby items, Halloween and fall items, collectibles and much more. Proceeds benefit the Parish and other local non-profits. For more information, click here.

AUGUST

Through 8.5.17 Henderson Libraries Summer Reading Program

With the theme “Build a Better World,” Henderson Libraries’ Summer Reading Program will run through August 5. Children through age 17 can read to win prizes. There will also be three two-day camps: one focussed in Lego, one on science, and one on theater. No charge. Also, a Harry Potter-themed lock-in will also be held at Paseo Verde Library from 6-8 p.m. July 28, for ages 10-17. Registration required. For more information, click here.

Through 8.5.17 Summer Family Programs at Nevada State Museum

Kids of all ages are invited to drop by the Springs Preserve's Education Room on Saturday afternoon through August 5, from  noon to 5 p.m., for hands-on, drop-in activities. Families can explore Nevada topics through demonstrations, activities and workshops. There's a different topic each time, and you can find that info on their website.  No registration required and all programs are free with admission. For more information, click here.

Through 8.5.17 Springs Preserve Summer Camps

Summer Fun Camps are back at Springs Preserve, with new, learning- and nature-based adventure themes each of the nine weeks. It's a different topic each week but every camp week includes: cool museum explorations; acting with Drama Kids International; swimming Fridays at the YMCA; guest speakers; fun crafts, awesome games and cool theme projects. 8.9.17 Art Show at Lake Las Vegas Art Galleries

The Lake Las Vegas Art Galleries will have its summer juried show, “Casting Shadows,” through August 9, with work by Nevada artists in its North Gallery. The hours are 1 to 8 p.m. daily. 

SEPTEMBER

9.8-10.17 Harvest Festival Original Art & Craft Show Food Drive for Safe Nest

Las Vegas’s largest art and craft show kicks off the holiday season at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. at 9 am daily.  Attendees may bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Safe Nest and receive $2 off their admission.

9.9.17 Nellis/Creech Military Appreciation Day

Nellis/Creech Military Appreciation Day will be held September 9, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Craig Ranch Regional Park. There will be entertainment, food trucks, family fun, gunny sack races, tug o' wars, and more. Free lunch for military personnel and first responders with ID. 9.23.17 Lucky Duck Family Festival

Lucky Duck Family Festival is an annual event that raises money to cover healthcare costs for medically fragile children and their families in Southern Nevada.  Donors “adopt” a duck for a minimum of $5.  Each duck has a unique number associated with it.  Ducks are plucked from the pond the day of the event for donors to have an opportunity to win truly fabulous prizes. The Public Education Foundation’s 21st Annual Education Hero Award Gala is an event honoring individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to children and education. All proceeds from the event support the Foundation’s initiatives and programs designed to improve public education in Southern Nevada’s public schools. 9.25.17 Las Vegas Hemophilia Walk & 5K

Walkers, runners, individuals, teams, families, and kids are invited to take part in the Las Vegas Hemophilia Walk & 5K to support the inherited bleeding disorder community September 23 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. Registration and check-in starts at 7:30 a.m., with the walk and run at 8:30. There will be a light pre-walk breakfast, music, activities for children and a team t-shirt contest. Admission to Floyd Lamb Park is free for all walk participants. For more information, click here.

9.25.17 10th Annual Step Up for Kids Event

Come to the Springs Preserve for the 10th Annual Step Up for Kids Event, Celebrating Children’s Day in Nevada on Monday, September 25th from 3 to 7pm. There will be free food, live entertainment, ice cream, animals, games, face painting, raffle prizes, a resource fair, and much more. The first 100 people will receive a FREE T-shirt and Passes to Springs Preserve Museums.  This event is free and open to the public. So this Children’s Day, celebrate your family with us at the Step Up for Kids Event and help give Nevada’s Children a Strong Start.

9.29.17 Day of Caring

Day of Caring is our largest, one-day community-wide volunteer event promoting and celebrating the spirit and value of volunteering, increasing awareness of our local community needs and collaborating efforts of impact through corporate groups and individuals. Last year, over 1,000 volunteers came together at 23 nonprofit agencies and 16 Clark County schools to complete 93 volunteer projects and make an impact across Southern Nevada. We invite you to join us again for our second year to make an even bigger difference! 9.30.17 7th Annual Run Walk Roll Against Bullying

Nevada PEP is leading the movement against bullying. Once again we are partnering with the National Bullying Prevention Center in Minnesota.  This year the 7th Annual Run Walk Roll Against Bullying event will be on Saturday, September 30th on the campus of UNLV. The Run Walk Roll, a 5K Fun Run and a 1.5 mile Fun Walk, is a family event with great raffle prizes, fun face painting, and some very popular mascots all promoting bullying prevention. OCTOBER

10.7.17 Around the World: A Progressive Dining Experience

Join The Shade Tree on October 7, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm for one of our signature events and fundraiser Around the World (ATW) a progressive dining experience that will take place at the Dining Arroyo in Downtown Summerlin. Downtown Summerlin is the Las Vegas Valley's newest shopping and dining destination. ATW will be a cultural world tour that will include tastes from Italy, Japan, USA and Brazil as well as global entertainment. General admission tickets includes a world tour of Maggiano's Little Italy, CRAVE America, Fogo de Chão, Public School 702, Shake Shack, and Cream. VIP tickets will include the world tour and exclusive access to the world famous Wolfgang Puck restaurant and a VIP first class swag bag including dessert from California Pizza Kitchen. NOVEMBER

11.27.17 Swing for the Kids Golf Tournament

Swing for the Kids Golf Tournament is an annual event hosted by Foundation for Positively Kids.  Golfers will play an 18-hole, shot-gun start tournament with a “poker run” at TPC Summerlin starting at 8 am.  Tournament winner will be decided by the best POKER hand.  Golfers will receive a card at the practice tee and holes 5, 8, 14, and 17 with the opportunity to purchase extra cards for $20.  Golfers will play their own ball.  A lunch will be provided at the end of play with a silent auction.
