Camps for kids ages 6-11 offer a variety of experiences, with each week-long camp including explorations in the Nature Exchange and museums; YMCA swims; zoology encounters; hands-on learning with naturalists and garden gurus; fun crafts and games. 6.24.19 - 7.26.19 Stuff the Bus
Help local students and teachers start the school year ready for success with essential school supplies! Stuff the Bus is an effort to rally the community to assist the most underserved children in our local schools, as well as their teachers, by donating backpacks and school supplies before the new school year begins. Drop off donated supplies at SOS Radio or United Way of Southern Nevada by July 26th and help students and teachers succeed! To learn more, click here.
7.2.19 - 7.23.19 Ruff Ruffman Learning Workshops
Learn how you can support your kids' STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education with Vegas PBS and Ruff Ruffman! The events are free and a meal will be provided. Intended for children ages 5-8 and their families. Join us at East Las Vegas Library every Tuesday from July 2 to July 23 from 12-2 pm, and if your family attends all four workshops you will receive a new Android PBS KIDS Playtime Tablet! 7.7.19 - 7.12.19 Volunteer with the National Federation of the Blind Convention
Help UPS and the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) Convention as a volunteer! Volunteers ages 12 or older are needed to help a cross-section of blind and low-vision conference attendees with varying skillsets who may need assistance navigating their way through the conference area. 7.15.19 - 07.27.19 Habitat for Humanity - Summer Las Vegas Market at World Market Center
Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas partners with Opportunity Village to collect donations (furniture, lighting, home accessories, and more) from exhibitors before and after the trade show. Exhibitors are preparing for the upcoming trends and will donate items that are no longer in season. Teams of volunteers will stack items on carts & in bins to be loaded on to our donation trucks. If you are unable to lift or bend, volunteers are also needed to open corridor doors, assist with elevators, and properly tag items to before loading on to our donation trucks. This a great team building opportunity for an entire department, class or office. Volunteers are needed the week of July 15-19 and again July 22-27. Come make a difference in the lives on students and teacher at United Way of Southern Nevada and help sort collected school and teacher supplies, stuff back packs, and load the bus!
