Helping Homeless Youth Receive Compassionate Care
Antonio, a local teenager, was homeless and had nowhere to turn. He was unemployed and had severely uncontrolled diabetes and experienced multiple hospitalizations. Through the support of UWSN and our partners, Nevada Health Centers, he received countless hours of support from mentors who helped Antonio go from hopeless to successful with a promising future. Antonio now has his own apartment, is working full-time at Raising Cane’s, and has his diabetes under control. Through this program, Antonio was inspired to give back to other homeless youth and is now a mentor providing the support they need to get back on their feet. He recently shared that he is excited to take new steps towards his ultimate goal of becoming a nurse.
