Defining the Future of our United Way

Beginning my sixth month as a resident of Las Vegas, I am excited to share that we have (finally!) found and purchased a home in the west Valley. It is complicated doing a home search when you have three generations (our five kids, Stephanie and myself, my mom and a dog) living under one roof. We are anxiously looking forward to the end of the school year in Buffalo, getting our home there sold, and having the whole family here in Nevada.

Stephanie and I sincerely appreciate the warm welcome that we have received and the outpouring of support from the entire community. It is clear that there are many dedicated people and organizations who are committed to creating a thriving United Way here in Southern Nevada.

Our team at United Way has been working diligently with our board to craft a strategic plan for the organization. This is a critical step that will allow our staff, board, and the community to have a single shared vision for what we want our United Way to be in Las Vegas. I hope that you will join us for one of our Community Strategy Sessions. We created these forums because your input is incredibly valuable to our organization as we define the future of our United Way.

United Way of Southern Nevada is in a very unique position in our community. We bring together the strength of over 20,000 donors, 6,500 volunteers, 400 nonprofit organizations and 300 companies to make a difference in our community. We leverage the collective effort and goodwill of our supporters to create innovate change in our community.

Some social issues are too complex for one organization to solve. My vision for our United Way is to focus the collective goodwill of our tens of thousands of stakeholders to tackle and solve our most challenging social issues. It is hard work, but together we can make real and measurable change in the lives of our neighbors and fellow citizens in this community.

I invite you to reach out to me at to join us in creating a stronger and vibrant future together.
