A major change in how Southern Nevada’s students earn their college degrees is underway as the region’s Nevada System of Higher Education institutions join forces to see that more of our students have access to a college degree, get the appropriate help needed to earn that degree, and are guided on what their next steps should be to finish the degree on time and start their careers.
The need for this change is critical as an ever-increasing number of jobs nationally and in Nevada will require postsecondary education in the coming years.
United Way of Southern Nevada’s Women’s Leadership Council’s (WLC) 11th Annual “Women’s Fall Suit Drive” on Friday, November 2 was a complete success with an incredible 10,128 items and 1,676 women’s professional outfits assembled at the NV Energy parking lot. Donations will benefit women who are participating in back to work programs and need professional clothing to wear to interviews and future job opportunities.

The 2018 Mayors Prayer Breakfast, a community-building event, encourages unity, diversity and the development of leadership skills for Las Vegas youth, and will take place at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel. The event includes mayors reading ecumenical prayers, an interfaith candle lighting ceremony, a keynote speech by Kerry Bubolz, President and Chief Operations Officer of the Vegas Golden Knights, and a special performance by the Green Valley Madrigal Singers.
