United Way of Southern Nevada’s Women’s Leadership Council encourages the community to donate women’s professional items during the (WLC) 10th Annual “Women’s Fall Suit Drive” on Friday, November 3 from 7 a.m. – 2p.m. at the NV Energy parking lot (6226 W. Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas). Donations will benefit women who are participating in back to work programs.
With a mission to unite the community to improve lives, WLC encourages the entire community to participate and donate new and gently-used, clean professional attire including suits, dresses, pants and tops on hangers and jewelry, shoes, belts, scarves and handbags to assist women in need. The drive helps women prepare for career opportunities and gain confidence to succeed during an interview and in the workplace. In celebration of United Way of Southern Nevada’s 60th anniversary, 60 volunteers will come together to sort items and create outfits for recipients.
Donations will benefit United Way accredited agencies with back to work programs for women. The agencies include Catholic Charities, Goodwill Career Connections, S.A.F.E. House, SafeNest, The Shade Tree, Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority ROSS Program, Women’s Development Center, Work Opportunities Readiness Center of HELP of Southern Nevada.
Last year’s drive collected more than 11,359 professional items including suits, dresses, shoes, handbags and jewelry. For more information about WLC and the suit drive, please visit uwsn.org/wlc or contact Lawrel K. Larsen at LawrelL@uwsn.org or 702-892-2319.
