NV Energy Donates $500,000 to Assist Customers with Utility Costs through United Way of Southern Nevada’s Project REACH

United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is pleased to announce that the NV Energy Foundation has made a $500,000 grant to UWSN for Project REACH (Relief through Energy Assistance to prevent Customer Hardship). Project REACH provides financial assistance to qualified customers who experience unplanned hardships and are unable to pay for their electricity needs.

Project REACH helps vulnerable adults over the age of 62, medically fragile persons, as well as Reserve and National Guard members with their energy bills. Over the last year, 1,800 individuals and families received assistance through Project REACH.

“NV Energy is such a great supporter of our community,” said Bob Morgan, United Way of Southern Nevada President and CEO. “Through their assistance our must vulnerable will receive energy assistance during the hot summer months.”

“The NV Energy Foundation has committed resources to support Project REACH because of our belief in giving back to the community through United Way,” said Paul Caudill, NV Energy President and Chief Executive Officer. “This grant affords us the opportunity to provide assistance to our most vulnerable customers in southern Nevada who need help paying their electric bills.”

Including the $500,000 Project REACH grant, which is funded by NV Energy shareholders, and not by the utility’s customers, NV Energy and its employees have collectively contributed more than $1.08 million during the 2015-16 United Way workplace giving campaign. This financial support goes directly back into our community to help prepare children for school, teach financial literacy skills and help students reach high school graduation, improving the lives of thousands of people in Nevada.
