Join us and celebrate our Volunteer of the Month, Morgan! She’s a dedicated town hero who does a few shifts a month with Delivering with Dignity, making sure her Las Vegas neighbors have a nice meal. “Helping my fellow Las Vegans brings me a sense of community, hope, and even a bit of peace,” said Morgan. We are GRATEFUL for wholehearted volunteers that help us achieve our mission and make Southern Nevada a better place for all! Read our interview with Morgan below to learn about what inspires her to volunteer for our community.

What inspired you to volunteer?

In the summer of 2020, my heart was yearning to help my Las Vegas neighbors. Blessed with good health, a stable job, and great home life, I understood how fortunate I was. However, there were those, particularly the elderly, handicapped, and those down and out who really struggled during the pandemic. After seeing a news story on Delivering with Dignity I started volunteering, delivering meals to those in need. Helping my fellow Las Vegans brings me a sense of community, hope, and even a bit of peace. And the appreciation, for both the food and even the personal interaction, from those I assist, is palpable. It fills the soul.

How are you supporting our community through volunteering?

I volunteer a few shifts a month with Delivering with Dignity, delivering meals to those in need. On average I deliver to around 9 households a shift. Providing food and even, in some cases, a personal connection (albeit socially distanced and masked), to those in need, I feel great giving back to my city. DWD provided me with an opportunity to lend a helping hand to my fellow Las Vegans, for which I am very thankful.

Why did you choose to volunteer through UWSN’s Volunteer Connect Platform?

Honestly, the Delivering with Dignity website instantly linked up with the UWSN website. So it was out of sheer ease that I started using the UWSN Volunteer Connect Platform. But the Platform is very user-friendly, and I like being able to track my hours and peruse other non-profit organizations on the Platform.
