Women’s Leadership Council 12th Annual Women’s Suit Drive Helps Women Build a New Future

United Way of Southern Nevada’s Women’s Leadership Council encourages the community to donate women’s professional clothes, shoes, and accessories during the 12th Annual Women’s Suit Drive on Friday, November 1 from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the NV Energy parking lot (6226 W. Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas). Donations will benefit women who are participating in back to work programs and need professional clothing to wear to interviews and future job opportunities.

With a mission to unite the community to improve lives, WLC encourages Southern Nevadans to participate and donate new and gently-used, clean professional attire including suits, dresses, pants and tops on hangers and jewelry, shoes, belts, scarves and handbags to assist women in return to work programs. The drive helps women prepare for career opportunities and gain confidence to succeed during an interview and in the workplace.

“It inspires me, it motivates me. It’s not just clothes for me. The giving part makes me feel like people care. Coming from a difficult situation you don’t feel like people care a lot”, said Joanna Brucelas, who received suits donated to the Shade Tree to help in her job search.

“We encourage everyone to help empower women in our community by donating women’s professional clothing and accessories to the WLC Suit Drive.” said Phyllis Radack, Chair of the WLC Suit Drive Committee. “Your donations give women in back to work programs hope for a brighter future and inspire them to succeed in the workplace.”

Last year’s drive collected more than 10,128 professional items including suits, dresses, shoes, handbags, and jewelry. For more information about WLC and the Suit Drive, please visit uwsn.org/wlc or contact Lawrel Larsen at LawrelL@uwsn.org or 702-892-2319.
